I loved this roundup and there are so many links I want/need to check out, especially that Deep Cuts book - I really like books like this, anything with music + nostalgia. I read Love is a Mixtape a few years ago (it was okay) and I've got Jude Rogers's book on my TBR.

If you're keen on exploring more music-related books, one I adored and see no one talk about ever is The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton. It's similar to Daisy Jones & The Six but I liked it even more. Also, yay for Neural Milk Hotel, maybe that album is like a rite of passage 😁
what a july you lived! i so feel you with the algorithm engagement, i feel like i’m just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. at the end of the day i’m just glad to not be resorting to adding more AI slop into the mix
I know the feeling on substack - especially when you put time and effort into something that doesn’t do as well as you’d hoped :( it’s really discouraging but we have to keep going I suppose!
And also WHY IS ‘AND JUST LIKE THAT’ SOOOO BAD?
Like, I have no preconceptions that it was ever meant to be good and watched it purely because it was trash, but it is near UNWATCHABLE now. And yeah, I always didn’t mind Aidans character on SATC but by god do I hate him now
Yesss, it's like they worked overtime to make us hate him!! And true, the show was cringe since it premiered but this season was on another level. Maybe they can tell more interesting stories with Aidan gone, Idk.
About Substack, yes, all we can do is keep going. I try to never have expectations about posts, especially since mine have gotten more personal lately, but my notes used to do well. Seeing engagement drop made me sad. I'll get over it. Thank u for reading!
