Love that you're branching out into more horror! Samara is a scream queen and had the same exact thoughts watching Over Your Dead Body. The "joke" completely took me out, and I was never able to recover enough to enjoy the back half.
Also saw Drag Me to Hell in theaters apparently 17 years ago (what!!) and it still creeps into my thoughts when I'm least expecting it. Effective but traumatizing!
They Will Kill You has been on my list, but I'm definitely making it a priority to find out what the bonkers plot twist is!
And for suggestions, I would say You're Next (survialist horror with dark humor), House of Wax (Paris Hilton, CMM version), The Faculty (baby Josh Hartnett and baby Shawn Hatosy fight aliens), and Abigail (another Radio Silence banger) are all variations of slightly terrifying but mostly fun.
Seriously, how did that movie come out 17 years ago, sounds illegal!! Have fun with They Will Kill You, I really did - though it's not really a final plot twist, more like the visuals and stuff. I don't want to mislead you 😂 Also, thank you so much for the suggestions! House of Wax I watched (iconic). Abigail is streaming because I kept eyeing it so it's happening, will check to see if the other two are available as well.
Of course! House of Wax is such a perfect 2000s time capsule and I was SO into CMM as the bad boy even though it’s not even close to believable hahha. Can’t wait to hear what you think about the rest if you do find them!
Though this isn't my preferred genre, you've totally sold me on all these. It depends on whether I can get them on Netflix (that's my only regular platform, sometimes I get Disney+ for a few months).
That one with the rape joke - why oh why, seriously now. I'm weirdly intrigued to watch this just to see how I react. It'll no doubt sicken me, but I guess it's now a morbid curiosity (like when teachers say 'don't turn the paper over!' and the idiots do)
Ha, happy to converts others 😂 The rape joke was extra jarring because it didn't go with the movie at all, which is violent but in like a funny sort of way. If you watch, pls let me know what you think ☺️
For now I guess I'll have to start with Jennifer's Body - that's the only one on Netflix.
I have such a long list of stuff to watch there, and I so rarely watch stuff, that it makes little sense to try another platform. But if that's what it takes to see some of these...
I'm saving some of these new-ish movies for October, but I will say that I saw Us in theaters and it scared the snot out of me, and I'm hard to rile. I also re-watched Drag Me to Hell in the past 2-3-ish years and it's SO GROSS and funny and just a wild ride, start to finish. Sam Raimi loves a vomit-body-horror moment, for sure!
This is a great list! Love when people branch out into more horror, because I love the genre so much and it gives me another person to harass, I mean recommend, movies to. I had the same reaction to They Will Kill You. Definitely not deep, but wild for sure. I've never actually seen Drag Me to Hell - I really need to! Have you see It Follows? That's a great one. So is Don't Breathe. Also if you liked Ready or Not, The Hunt is fun and similar.
I wouldn't say you *need* to see Drag Me to Hell but if you want grossness, I won't stand in your way 😂 Loved It Follows, adding the other two to the list, thank you!!
As someone who hates summer and loves fall, I needed this!
Yay! One more month 😊

The Faculty oh my god, formative.
honestly what I credit for my love of horror

Just maybe see if you like this one first 😂 as far as I'm concerned, it's going to be a great start.

SO GROSS!! So much vomiting. Though it is one of those movies where I can very much understand the appeal 😂
